Reflections: One Woman’s Journey with Self-Love and Compassion through Journaling

2/27/99 Dear J,

Today I made a therapy appointment for S and I. I pray for S to be able to see his abusive behavior and how it affects the children and me. I pray for myself, to be filled with your gifts––– love, patience, and self-control. I pray for peace in my life. I pray for my children’s health, that their runny noses and coughs go away and they feel strong and healthy. I pray for my father’s self-control (no more cigarettes) and a job where he can be happy. I pray for my mother’s health, no more arthritis pain. Keep her from over-involving herself again.

All my love, R

Dear R,

I can tell you are starting to hear the call of your higher self; you want more from your life than what you have had so far. I’m so proud of you for taking first steps towards change and finding support through writing and prayer. Not only have you recognized a need for peace and love in your life, it’s clear you want the same for your children. You want to provide a safe and happy home. Always remember that self-care is the crucial, beautiful stepping-stone on a path to empowerment. I know it’s not easy, and I believe in you. You know what it takes to turn your life around. You’ve already begun. Hang in there.

Love, Your Wisest Self

2/28/99 Dear J,

I am reading a book that is supposed to be channeled from God. I especially loved this…

“You ‘think’ [things] into being. This is the first step in creation. God is thought. Your thought is the parent which gives birth to all things.”

So today I will “think” my house in Connecticut is sold, that my marriage is in the best shape it has ever been in, that my life is filled with love and support. Thank you for sending me your thought of the day, and the wonderful morning at church for myself, my children, and the St. L’s family. Feeding of the 5000 was a great miracle and I am blessed to have had myself and my children take part in a dramatization of the story. B played the “little boy” and M helped carry the fish.

All my love, R

Dear R,

You are at the beginning stage of strengthening your will; learning that your thoughts actually do create your reality; either consciously or unconsciously. Holding a positive vision for your life comes from finding that place inside you when you are present to yourself and your needs. You were inspired, once again, by your desire for change. Wouldn’t it be nice to know ahead of time that everything works out with the house and your marriage? Though I can’t tell you how, I can tell you it will work out. In this life, everything we worry about becomes a teacher for us. Even though we sometimes want things to work out a certain way, stress-free, take heart. The way it does work is exactly right for us.

Love, Your Wisest Self
